A New York State Supreme Court judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by a group of online travel agencies, ASTA and the U.S. Tour Operators Association challenging the legality and constitutionality of New York’s amended hotel occupancy tax.The lawsuit targeted a city law, enacted in September of last year, introducing a tax which requires resellers of New York hotel rooms to remit a tax based on the full retail rate paid by the customer, including service fees and charges that are a “condition of occupancy.”Source: Travel Weekly; find article here>>.
