As a result of an in-flight, Boeing 787 battery incident in Japan, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has grounded Boeing 787 Dreamliners over safety concerns. Other regulators around the world have followed:All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines initially voluntarily grounded their 787 aircrafts; meanwhile, the Japanese government issued a formal order to ground the jets; India’s aviation-safety bureau has grounded all six of state-owned Air India’s 787s; The European Union ordered the grounding of LOT Polish’s two 787s;Chile’s LAN Airlines and Qatar Airways also followed.Source: FAA press release of Jan. 16, 2013; Travel Weekly
